Electric Micromobility Leader For 4 Years In A Row, Citroën Reinvents The Ami With New Design And Buggy Vision

Citroën is marking the fourth anniversary of its Ami this year, celebrating its success since launching in 2020. Designed as a unique and accessible mobility solution, the Ami broke new ground with its compact, licence-free design, attracting over 65,000 owners. Intended to disrupt the urban and suburban landscapes, this affordable electric quadricycle prioritises simplicity and practicality. With a 45 km/h top speed and 75 km range, the Ami is ideal for short-distance, everyday travel needs and offers flexibility through features like easy two-person seating, protection from the weather, and full recharging from a standard socket.

At this year's Paris Motor Show, Citroën unveiled a new generation Ami, set for release in 2025. The new design, featuring sharper, playful styling inspired by the classic 2CV, has updated elements, including distinctive headlights encircled by black “eyelids” and a bold front fascia that adds character. The refreshed Ami emphasises its cheerful and approachable personality, incorporating smoother lines and pronounced features that balance simplicity with modern appeal. Citroën has retained the original Ami's symmetry for cost-effectiveness and efficient design, ensuring that its unique profile and quirky charm remain intact.

Alongside the new Ami, Citroën introduced the Ami Buggy Vision concept, embodying a playful and adventurous spirit aimed at leisure activities. This beach-ready version features an open-top and sturdy build for exploring outdoor environments, using rugged tyres and additional functional touches like surfboard holders on the doors. The Ami Buggy is finished in a deep blue, complemented by a white roof that adds elegance to its rugged style.

For the celebration, Citroën also presented a six-metre Ami Tower, showcasing three unique versions: My Ami for All, an accessible model for people with disabilities; My Ami Rose Festival, created in collaboration with musical duo BigFlo and Oli; and My Ami Peps, a sporty edition in a striking sepia colour with bold design elements. Together, these models represent the Ami's diversity and its appeal to a wide range of lifestyles and needs.
